The Bases of the Military Policy of the Republic of Belarus
The foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus is based
on active, pragmatic and balanced cooperation and interaction with
all the countries of the World community, on the observance of conventional
norms of the International law and taken international responsibilities.
As a recognized independent and sovereign state the Republic of
Belarus performs an active international work including the sphere
of disarmament and control over armament. In 1949 the Belorussian
SSR as a member of UNO became a participant in some multilateral
agreements in this sphere including the Air, space and water nuclear
tests ban, August 6, 1963; Agreement on nuclear and other mass destruction
weapons' storage, September 6, 1971; Convention on the development,
manufacturing and storage of bacteriological (biological) and toxic
weapons and their dismantling, April 10, 1972 and some others.
For the Republic of Belarus as a country which voluntarily
renounced nuclear weapon and which has a constitutionally stated
status of a nuclear-free state the issues of international-agreement
base are the priorities in the political and military sphere.
