Sergei LEMESHEVSKY
Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence


    Sergei Lemeshevsky was born in Kartaly, Chelyabinsk Region, Russia on 27 October 1962.
    In 1984, he graduated with honours from the Minsk Higher Engineering Air Defence Missile School.
    Sergei Lemeshevsky occupied the posts of section chief in a radio-technical battery and the battery's deputy commander, guidance officer of an air defence battalion with further promotion to deputy commander for armament of a SAM battalion, commander of a radio-technical battery. Then he served as assistant leading engineer of a military representative office, chief of staff and commander of an air defence battalion.
    In 1996, Sergei Lemeshevsky graduated with honours from the Zhukov Military Command Academy of Air Defence and was appointed chief of staff, deputy commander of an air defence regiment, later on taking the command over an air defence brigade. Then he was promoted to chief of staff, first deputy commander, Western Operational Command, Air Force and Air Defence, Belarusian Armed Forces.
    Having earned an honoured degree at the Russian General Staff Academy in 2005, Sergei Lemeshevsky was delegated the powers of chief of staff, first deputy commander, North-Western Operational Command, Air Force and Air Defence with further promotion to the position of the commander. Then he served as chief of the main staff, first deputy commander of the Air Force and Air Defence.
    On 6 May 2011, Sergei Lemeshevsky was appointed Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Belarusian Armed Forces, following a relevant President' decree.
