Major General Igor AZARYONOK Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence
Igor Azaryonok was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia on 21 April 1962.
In 1983, he graduated from the Stavropol Military Aviation School for Pilots and Navigators and was appointed tactical control officer of a regimental command post and then deputy chief of regiment's staff.
Having earned an honoured degree at the Gagarin Military Aviation Academy in 1992, Igor Azaryonok served in the Belarusian Armed Forces as chief of staff of an aviation base, chief of section, operations office, Air Force staff and deputy chief of operations office.
Upon completion of the Russian General Staff Academy in 2000, he was delegated the powers of chief of operations office, deputy chief of staff, Belarus Air Force. Then Igor Azaryonok served in the General Staff as chief of the 2nd directorate, main operations directorate and in the main staff of Air Force and Air Defence as deputy chief of the main staff, chief of operations directorate. In 2003, he was put in charge of the Western Operational Tactical Command, Belarus Air Force and Air Defence.
On 16 November 2006, Igor Azaryonok was appointed Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Belarus Armed Forces, following a relevant President's decree.
